Location and description

Forest path to Neuenhaus

The Neuenhaus, surrounded by forests and fields, is characterized by forestry and agriculture. The best way to get to the village by car is from Kölner Straße (K 55) and Neuenhauser Straße near the Overath junction of the federal motorway 4 in Vilkerath. The last 200 meters to the courtyard can only be reached via a narrow forest path, which is reserved for agricultural traffic. A network of forest paths between coniferous forests, gorges, rock faces, wetlands and a pond system connects Neuenhaus with the surrounding areas of Bettenachen and Breidenassel via the Lombachtal nature reserve to Höhe .

history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had a courtyard as early as 1715, which is labeled as Neienhus . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Neuenhaus . It shows that the place was part of the Honschaft Miebach in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1817 as Neuenhaus . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area also under the name Neuenhaus . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the place is regularly recorded on the measurement table as Neuenhaus .

In 1822, 13 people lived in the place, categorized as a leasehold and mill, which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 16 inhabitants are given for the place called Neuenhaus . The place, which was categorized as a lease property in 1845 according to the overview of the government district of Cologne , had a residential building with seven residents at that time, all of them Catholic denominations. The municipality and district statistics of the Rhine province lists Neuenhaus in 1871 with one house and ten residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province from 1888, two houses with 12 inhabitants are given for Neuenhaus . In 1895 the place had two houses with 15 inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 21 inhabitants are given.
