Susanne Schmidt (rower)

Susanne Schmidt (born November 14, 1974 in Berlin ) is a former German rower .

Susanne Schmidt, who was born in East Berlin , did not make her breakthrough until 2000. The 1.91 m tall rower from the Tegel 1886 rowing club won the German championship eighth from 2000 to 2003 . In 2001 and 2002 she also won with the foursome . Internationally, she competed in the German women's eight from 2000 to 2004 . At the 2001 World Championships , Schmidt finished third with eighth place. In 2002 the German women's eight won all three regattas in the rowing world cup , and at the world championships the boat received the bronze medal as in the previous year. In 2003, the German women's eight finished second in the rowing World Cup twice, but won the gold medal at the World Championships in Milan . In the 2004 season, the eighth finished first, third and sixth in the World Cup regattas. After finishing fifth at the Olympic Games in Athens , Susanne Schmidt switched from oar rowing to scull rowing . In 2005 Susanne Schmidt won the silver medal at the World Championships in Gifu with the German double scull . In 2006 in Eton she received the silver medal in double sculls together with Britta Oppelt . Susanne Schmidt was in the World Cup until 2008, but could no longer qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games.
