The three- cushion world cup 1987/3 was the third world cup tournament in the second year of the three- cushion world cup. It took place from November 27th to 29th, 1987 in this discipline of carom billiards in Berlin .

history

After Nobuaki Kobayashi , Jun'ichi Komori was the second Japanese to win a World Cup tournament. In the final he beat the big favorite Raymond Ceulemans in the fifth set with 15: 6 in five shots. For Ceulemans, who was able to take revenge against Torbjörn Blomdahl in the semifinals for his final defeat in Antwerp, only all tournament records remained. Norbert Ohagen from Essen caused a big surprise. Only in the semifinals did he have to admit defeat to eventual winner Komori and finished fourth. For Dieter Müller , as in the first two World Cup tournaments of the year, the quarterfinals were the final destination. Günter Siebert was eliminated very tightly in five sets against Rini van Bracht ; he lost the fifth set at 13:15 in twelve shots. Van Bracht was the Germans' feared opponent. Dieter Müller failed several times because of the Dutchman. The Berliner Hans Diermeier could only look forward to winning the first set with 15:14 in ten shots in his first round defeat against Ceulemans.

The current world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl , who won the title in Cairo in April, finished third. After the World Cup victory in Antwerp, the young Swede showed that he can be expected in the future.
