The three- cushion world cup 1988/6 was the 6th world cup tournament in the third year of the three- cushion world cup. It took place from December 29 to 30, 1988 in this discipline of carom billiards in the ballroom of the Pacific Hotel in Tokyo . It was the first three-cushion World Cup tournament outside of Europe.

history

For the first time in the history of three-cushion world championships, the world champion was played in a tournament series of six three-cushion world cups. The Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl secured the title with four wins . After 1987 in Cairo, it was his second world champion title. To top it off , he set a new world record in the general average (GD) with 1,947 . He also achieved all other tournament bests in Tokyo. Only in the final against the unseeded Japanese Akio Shimada did he lose the first and thus only set with 7:15 after a 7-1 lead. At the first World Cup tournament in Japan, the organizer was certified by all sides as having a very good orientation. They managed to hold the tournament in two days.

The exact price money could not be determined from the documents. However, as in all BWA World Cup tournaments, it was at least 100,000 DM.
