The Castello Trussio in Dolegna del Collio

Dolegna del Collio (in the Furlan dialect: Dolegne dal Cuei or Dolegna dal Cuei ; Slovenian: Dolenje ) is a north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1,552 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region . The municipality is located about 15 kilometers northwest of Gorizia , belongs to the Comunità Montana del Torre, Natisone e Collio and borders directly on the Slovenian municipality of Brda (Italian: Collio ).

In Mernico, in the 15th century, the Castelmonte manuscript was one of the earliest written records of the Slovene language.
