Attractions

  • The castle ( Château de Beaufort ) from the 16th to 19th centuries has been registered as a monument historique since 1984 . It is privately owned.
  • The single-nave Romanesque parish church of Saint-Martin from the 12th century was later given side chapels. The current church tower dates from the 19th century. It is worth mentioning the blind arches made of black stone material above the apse windows.
  • On the edge of a small hill in the middle of the Beaufort vineyards, a prehistoric stone box ( Tombe de Coste Rouge ) with the skeleton of an approximately 7-year-old boy was found by chance in 2000 , which dates back to around 3500 BC. Is dated. Grave goods in the form of arrowheads and stone knives or scrapers indicate that the parents and members of the tribes lived in the expectation that the child would develop into a hunter in the afterlife.
