The three- cushion world cup 1992/2 was the 2nd world cup tournament in the seventh year of the three-cushion world cup. It took place from October 28 to 31, 1992 in this discipline of carom billiards in Ghent in East Flanders , Belgium . It was the second three-cushion World Cup tournament in Ghent.
Due to the high number of participants, there were several qualifying rounds for the 12 places in the main field. Old master Nobuaki Kobayashi turned out to be the best in qualification and the first two laps in the main draw . In the second round, he also outclassed the defending champion Torbjörn Blomdahl with a brilliant performance. He was only stopped in the quarterfinals by Marco Zanetti and played the best general average (GD) of the tournament. Kobayashi's countryman Jun'ichi Komori was also hit hard in the first round. He lost to the 22-year-old Belgian Roland Forthomme despite a good performance. The player of the tournament was the native Korean with US passport Sang Chun Lee . After a tough fight against Frédéric Caudron in the quarter-finals , he dismantled the two great Belgians Raymond Ceulemans and Ludo Dielis in the semifinals and in the final with 3-0 sets each with two great performances . It was the second World Cup victory for the American.

The World Cup tournament was played as an open tournament again. From a pre-qualification with 48 participants, 12 participants qualified for the 1/16 final and got 6 points for the world rankings. The main tournament was played with 28 participants. The first four of the world rankings were set for the second round. The players qualified in Spa must take part in the pre-qualification. The whole tournament was played in the knockout system with three sets of 15 points each.

The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
