The list of castles and chateaus in Slovenia names preserved and decommissioned castles and chateaus on the territory of present-day Slovenia . At the time of the emergence of the medieval castles and later palaces , the main areas of today's Slovenia were part of Carniola ( Mark , later Duchy and later Austrian Crown Land ) and the eastern part was part of the Duchy and later Crown Land of Lower Styria ; the Übermur area until 1918 part of the Kingdom of Hungary .
