Joseph L. Rhinock

Joseph Lafayette Rhinock (born January 4, 1863 in Owenton , Owen County , Kentucky , †  September 20, 1926 in New Rochelle , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1911 he represented the state of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In his youth, Joseph Rhinock moved to Covington , where he attended public schools. Then he worked in the oil industry. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . He was first elected to Covington City Council and was Mayor of that city between 1893 and 1900. In the 1904 congressional election , Rhinock was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the sixth constituency of Kentucky , where he succeeded Daniel Linn Gooch on March 4, 1905 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1911 .

In 1910, Rhinock turned down another candidacy. In the following years and decades he became involved in the theater business. In New York City and Cincinnati he served in various functions on the boards of several theater companies. He also got into the horse racing business by investing in related companies. Joseph Rhinock died on September 20, 1926 on his Bonnie Crest estate near New Rochelle, New York State. He was buried in Covington.
