Sainte-Catherine is located about 26 kilometers southwest of Lyon at the foot of the Monts du Lyonnais on the Platte River . Sainte-Catherine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-en-Haut in the north, Chabanière in the northeast, Riverie in the east, Saint-Romain-en-Jarez in the south and Larajasse in the west. The commune belongs to the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine-growing region .
