Süderfahrenstedt ( Danish : Sønder Farensted , also Farnsted ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Süderfahrenstedt is located about eight kilometers north of Schleswig am Langsee . To the west, the federal highway 7 runs from Schleswig to Flensburg, to the south, the federal highway 201 from Schleswig to Kappeln . State road 22 runs through Wellspang from Sörup to Triangel . In Triangle there is a connection to the B 201.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1312 as Farnstethmarck (Danish Farnstedmark ). The reason name means about crossing point to adan fern ( anord . Ferny ) for transport, travel and -stedt for (living) site (adan. Stath , ndän. Sted , mnd. Stede ). The place name probably describes a crossing point on the Langsee. While Süderfahrenstedt forms an independent municipality, Norderfahrenstedt has now grown together with Böklund . The church of the parish of Fahrenstedt is today in the neighboring municipality of Böklund.

Community representation

The Wählergemeinschaft KWG had initially all nine seats held in the municipal council for the municipal election, 2013. In mid-2015, a council member moved from the KWG to the newly founded Active Voting Association Süderfahrenstedt (AWS).

Personalities

The important north German landscape painter Jan Laß (1890–1958) lived with his family in a remote house on Langsee from 1934 . The painter and set designer Walther Roggenkamp (1926–1995) also lived in Güldenholm on the Langsee from 1970.
