Ehr is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association of Nastaetten . It is the smallest local church in the district.

geography

The place is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ) in the so-called blue country northwest of Nastätten . The Ehrer Bachmühle residential area also belongs to the municipality of Ehr .

history

The first mention of the place comes from the year 1245. For a long time it was part of the Quadruple Court . Ecclesiastically Ehr was assigned to the parish of Marienfels. Since the 19th century part of the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau , the place came to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946 . Ehr has been a member of the Nastätten community since 1972.

In 1554 permission was given to build a mill, which has been preserved to this day. From 1788 onwards, mining was carried out near the village for a few years, but only a small amount of iron stone, brine and cobalt was produced.

In the 14th and 15th centuries there is evidence of a Burgmann family in the service of the Nassau counts, who called themselves "von (the) alders" and probably had their origins in Ehr.
