The Herolder coat of arms is divided into two parts: gold and blue. At the top two crossed lifting hoes in red; below 2: 1 set silver clovers.

Herold was originally called Herveroth, which means: clearing of the Herv or Herbert. The village was created as a clearing in the forest. That is why the hoes are included in the coat of arms.

The lower part relates to the tetrarchy. Of the three Nassau count houses, two had small gold bars next to the Nassau lion in their coat of arms, one of them had clovers instead of the bars . The designer of the coat of arms opted for the clovers, probably because he liked them better.

The colors red and gold are the colors of the Counts von Katzenelnbogen. The colors blue and gold are the colors of the Nassau counts .
