Marina Gurjewna Studnewa

Marina Gurjewna Studnewa ( Russian Марина Гурьевна Студнева ; born February 2, 1959 in Pskow ) is a former Soviet rower . She won three world titles and an Olympic bronze medal.

Athletic career

The 1.82 m tall rower from Spartak Pskow competed in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow in a four with helmsman . Marija Fadejewa , Galina Sowetnikowa , Marina Studnewa, Svetlana Semjonowa and taxwoman Nina Tscheremissina took third place in front of a home crowd behind the four from the GDR and Bulgaria. The following year Studnewa, Semjonowa and Tscheremissina competed with Olha Pywowarowa and Raissa Doligaida , the Soviet four-man won the title at the World Championships in Munich in front of the boats from the GDR and the United States.

In 1982 Studnewa and Doligaida switched to the Soviet eight , at the World Championships in Lucerne the Soviet boat won ahead of the aft from the USA and the GDR. In 1983 Studnewa was part of the crew that defended the title at the World Championships in Duisburg , as in the previous year, the eighth from the USA and the GDR were behind them on the medal ranks. In 1984 the rowers from the Soviet Union did not take part in the Olympic rowing competitions in Los Angeles because of the Olympic boycott of the Eastern Bloc countries . At the 1985 World Championships , Marina Studnewa and Svetlana Semjonowa started in a pair without a helmsman and finished in seventh place.
