history

The place name Reuth has the meaning of a medieval clearing.

In 1335 the Counts of Blankenheim handed over the town of Kyle with the town of Reuth to King John of Bohemia and received it back as a fief . In 1423 Reuth became the property of the Counts of Loon . Reuth came to the Counts of Manderscheid in 1469 .

After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops in 1794 , Reuth belonged to the canton of Lissendorf in the Saardepartement from 1798 to 1814 and was assigned to Stadtkyll by the Mairie . By the Congress of Vienna (1815) Reuth came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1816 part of the circle Prüm in Trier . The municipality was under the administration of the mayor's office Stadtkyll .

As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate functional and territorial reform , Reuth was reclassified together with 14 other communities on November 7, 1970 from the district of Prüm , which was dissolved at the same time, to the district of Daun (since 2007 district Vulkaneifel).
