The Super Bowl XLVI was the 46th Super Bowl , the final of the 2011 season of the National Football League (NFL) in American football . The game was on February 5, 2012 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis ( Indiana ), between the champions of the National Football Conference (NFC), the New York Giants and the Master of the American Football Conference (AFC), the New England Patriots , held .

The New York Giants won the Super Bowl XLVI 21:17. For Super Bowl MVP was quarterback of the Giants, Eli Manning , selected.

There had previously been a final Giants against Patriots in the 2007 season in Super Bowl XLII , with the then undefeated favorite New England Patriots surprisingly lost 17:14 against the Giants during the entire season.
