Brechen , in the 19th century also Brecken , was a court in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). The court fell in the second half of the 19th century.

Location and description

Brechen was in the valley of the Scheuerbach in the eastern Hückeswagen on the border with Radevormwald . Neighboring places were Scheuer , Niederdahlhausen , Herweg , Heinhausen , Fockenhausen and Siepersbever on Hückeswagener and Lichteneichen and Hönde on Radevormwalder urban area. Is also disposed of Upper Dahlhausen .

The Hofschaft could be reached via an access road from Siepersbever.

history

In 1484 the place was mentioned for the first time in church accounts. Spelling of the first mention: Breckmann . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm as Brecken . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen .

1815/16 lived 18 inhabitants in the place. In 1832, under the name of Brecken , Brechen belonged to the Herdingsfelder Honschaft , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at the time. At that time, 15 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, two houses with four residents are given. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . Breaking is no longer mentioned in the 1895 edition.
