The three- cushion world cup 1994/2 was the 1st UMB world cup tournament in the ninth year of the three- cushion world cup. It took place from September 22nd to 25th, 1994 in this discipline of carom billiards in Cairo . It was the first World Cup tournament that was not organized by the BWA. The tournament was held as a parallel world cup by the UMB.
After the BWA had hosted 42 World Cup tournaments since 1986 and the differences between the UMB and the BWA could not be resolved, the UMB / CEB Congress in Lisbon in 1994 decided to start its own three-cushion World Cup series. All billiards athletes are allowed to participate in this series, unless they are under contract with other associations. If the contracts end, the athletes can also take part in the new tournaments. The total prize money in the first year is 500,000 DM.
The first of these tournaments, sponsored by the German car manufacturer BMW, started in September 1994 in the Egyptian capital Cairo. The tournament started on September 22nd in the idyllic Mena House Hotel , at the foot of the Giza pymamids. The current world champion, the current European champion, eight ranking players and four wildcard players were seeded. In addition, another 18 participants qualified from a qualification. The tournament started with a few surprises in the first round. In this round the world and European champions failed. The two players who eliminated these players also played the final. Here the son of record world champion Raymond Ceulemans prevailed. It was Koen Ceulemans' first international success. In the final he was able to defeat Spain's great three-cushion hope Daniel Sánchez with 3-1 sets. Third place went to the German three-cushion champion Christian Rudolph .

The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
