Westhofen is a village in Hückeswagen in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

Location and transport links

Westhofen is in western Hückeswagen near the crossroads . Other neighboring towns are Winterhagen , Westhoferhöhe , Schneppenthal , Heidt , Grünenthal and Kammerforsterhöhe .

The village is located on highway 68 between Scheideweg and Kammerforsterhöhe on the watershed between the Dörpe brook and the Purder brook . The Schneppenthaler Bach rises south of the village, the headwaters of the Purder Bach lies to the west.

history

In 1374 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document: "The Cologne St. Ursulastift has income, among other things, from the farm zo me Weshove ". Spelling of the first mention : zo me Weshove .

In the 18th century the place belonged to the Bergisches Amt Bornefeld-Hückeswagen . In 1815/16 there were 25 people living in the village. In 1832 Westhofen belonged to the Great Honorship , which was part of the Hückeswagen external citizenship within the Hückeswagen mayor's office . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had a public building, two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 21 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland , six houses with 47 inhabitants are given for 1885. At that time the place belonged to the rural community Neuhückeswagen within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had seven houses with 76 inhabitants, in 1905 six houses and 49 inhabitants.
