history
The south bank and the hinterland of the Szczecin Lagoon were settled thousands of years ago, as evidenced by spearheads and hand ax finds.
The area belonged to the Duchy of Pomerania , Sweden (1648–1721), Prussia from 1815 as the province of Pomerania (1815–1945) and the district of Neubrandenburg (1952–1990), Ueckermünde district .
Christiansberg was laid out in 1822 and settled with day laborers. The botanical garden , which was created privately in 1982, includes a collection of plants from all parts of the world. In addition to the deciduous and coniferous trees and magnolias, there are more than 300 rhododendron plants , a perennial area, a heather garden and a rock garden.
Fraudenhorst: One of the oldest groups of yew trees in Germany can be found near Fraudenhorst . The trees are between 500 and 800 years old. Luckow:
Luckow was a Slavic complex, in 1260 the place was first mentioned as Luckowe (in German: Wiesengrund ) in a handover document. The half-timbered church in Luckow was built in 1726. Luckow was owned by the von Bröcker and Muckerwitz family until 1782 .
Mönkeberg was - as the name suggests - founded by Ueckermünder monks in 1290.
Rieth was first mentioned in a document in 1252. The estate was owned by the (von) Bröker family from 1317 to 1648 and again from 1690 until the 18th century. The church was built after 1648. The manor house, built for the von Bülow family , dates from 1841. Until December 31, 1997 the place was an independent municipality.
