The Hochrhein transmitter is a basic network transmitter for terrestrial broadcasting of digital radio. It is located in the municipality of Rickenbach in the district of Waldshut between the districts of Bergalingen and Jungholz at an altitude of 800 m above sea level. NN . A 184-meter-high, guyed transmission mast serves as the antenna carrier.
The Hochrhein broadcaster is owned by Deutsche Funkturm and operated by Media Broadcast .
The Hochrheinsender was built in 1966 and until 2007 broadcast analogue programs ZDF (channel 39; 230 kW) and SWR television (channel 52; 235 kW). From 2007 to 2017 digital television was broadcast in DVB-T and the region of the southern Black Forest was supplied. When switching to DVB-T2 HD, the broadcasting location for TV was switched off without replacement; Since then, terrestrial German programs can no longer be received between Basel and large parts of the Lake Constance region, but only via satellite, cable network or telephony / fiber optic lines.
Digital radio (DAB / DAB +)
DAB has been broadcast since December 1, 2015 .
Digital television (DVB-T)
Between July 10, 2007 and November 8, 2017, the following programs in the digital standard DVB-T were broadcast from here in single - frequency operation with other transmitters :
channel | Single frequency network | Programs in the ensemble | ERP | polarization |
---|---|---|---|---|
33 (570 MHz) | Baden-Baden , Brandenkopf , Vogtsburg 1 , Langenbrand | ZDF , 3sat , KiKA / ZDFneo , ZDFinfo | 50 kW | horizontal |
39 (618 MHz) | Brandenkopf , Vogtsburg 1 | SWR television Baden-Württemberg , Bavarian television , hr-television , WDR television | 50 kW | horizontal |
52 (722 MHz) | Brandenkopf , Vogtsburg 1 | The first , ARTE , Phoenix , One | 50 kW | horizontal |
As part of the switch to DVB-T2 HD, the broadcasting of TV programs was switched off without replacement on November 8, 2017, because ARD / ZDF were not prepared to maintain broadcasting operations without co-financing from private companies. The Hochrhein transmitter is not the only switched off transmitter that leaves a gap in coverage; television was also switched off at the Brandenkopf transmitter on this date without replacement.
Others
From 1953 to about 1970 the Südwestfunk operated a transmitter in Hochsal, also known as the Hochrheinsender . This filling transmitter for VHF was replaced by the transmitter Laufenburg AG in Laufenburg , Switzerland .
