The New Haven Eagles were an American ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in New Haven , Connecticut . You were a founding member of the Canadian American Hockey League and the American Hockey League.

history

The New Haven Eagles were among the five founding members of the Canadian American Hockey League in 1926 . In their premiere season, the Eagles closed the regular season with a record of 18 wins and 14 losses from first and won the championship in the playoffs. The Eagles played in the CAHL until the league was incorporated into the International American Hockey League in 1936 . Until the league was renamed the American Hockey League in 1940, the Eagles played in the I-AHL for four years. In the AHL's inaugural season, New Haven was one of the founding members. In the first two seasons, the Eagles reached the first playoff round, but were eliminated both times against the Hershey Bears . From the middle of the 1942/43 to 1945 season, the team withdrew from the AHL due to the Second World War . In their first season after resumption of play, New Haven 1945/46 could not qualify for the playoffs.

In the summer of 1946 the team was renamed the New Haven Ramblers. Under this name, the team played for four years in the AHL before they were renamed New Haven Eagles again in 1950. The 1950/51 season was not ended by the Eagles and after 28 games they withdrew from the AHL with a record of only five wins and 23 defeats.
