Surat is about 21 kilometers northeast of Clermont-Ferrand and about eleven kilometers east-northeast of Riom in Limagne . Surat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thuret in the north, Saint-André-le-Coq in the east and north-east, Saint-Ignat in the south, Martres-sur-Morge in the west and Sardon in the north-west.
