Chappes is a municipality with 1655 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in central France Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Riom and the canton of Aigueperse (until 2015: canton Ennezat ). The inhabitants are called Chappadaires .

Chappes is about 14 kilometers northeast of Clermont-Ferrand on the Bédat . Chappes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ennezat in the north, Entraigues in the east and northeast, Chavaroux in the east and southeast, Lussat in the south and Saint-Beauzire in the west.
