List of National Heritage of Namibia

This is the list of the National Heritage Namibia ( English National Heritage ).

It includes all by the National Heritage Council of Namibia in the Namibian Heritage Register ( German  Register of Namibian heritage ) registered National Monuments (English Heritage sites ) and other objects under monument protection (English Heritage Objects ), as of January 2020 were asked. The legal basis is the National Heritage Act, No. 76 from 2004.

Definitions

The law distinguishes between Heritage Place and Heritage Objects , ie places or objects of Namibian heritage. These can be further subdivided into National Monuments , Protected Places , Registered Buildings and Protected Objects .

  • All objects of human trade, above or below the ground, that are at least 50 years old and all rock paintings that are older than 50 years are to be described as "archaeological" .
  • Historic shipwrecks are all ships that have been in or under Namibian waters for at least 35 years. Objects on or on such ships or objects that were on or on such ships and are also 35 years old are referred to as historical shipwreck objects .
