history

HB Tórshavn (red-black) and KÍ Klaksvík (blue).

HB was founded in 1904 in the capital Tórshavn . In addition to HB, there is also B36 Tórshavn (1936), FF Giza (1968, until 2009 as NÍF Nólsoy), AB Argir (1973), Fram Tórshavn (1975) and Undrið FF (2006) in Tórshavn .

The association has around 1,000 members, 600 of whom are active. HB was Faroese champion 22 times (record champion since September 12, 2004) and cup winner 26 times (both since 1955). HB Tórshavn celebrated his greatest success in the UEFA Cup in 1998 against Vaasan PS (Finland) 2-0. The highest defeat at this level was the 0:10 against Tromsø IL (Norway) in 1995.

Fans of HB Tórshavn.

Arch-rival KÍ Klaksvík (also founded in 1904) was able to say "16 times Faroese champion" until 2003 when both clubs held the record championship title. The eternal struggle between the two record champions at the time culminated in the memorable rounds of 1971 and 1972. In the last game of the season, the opposing team won the championship title away from home: first the HB in Klaksvík and the following year the KÍ in Tórshavn.

League records

Women's soccer

The HB women's team was one of the dominant teams with the introduction of the 1st Deild . The 1985 championship final was lost 2-1 to B36 Tórshavn , but the following year the first title followed. With a few exceptions, the team was always able to stay in the top group, which led to further titles. The first ever cup final was won 3-1 after extra time against Skála ÍF , in 1999 they made the double of the championship and the cup, in 2001 they achieved their fifth and so far last cup victory. In 2004 HB withdrew from the championship after a total of seven titles and was replaced in 2005 as the record champions in the Faroese women's league, which has existed since 1985, from KÍ Klaksvík .
