Kittlitz is a municipality in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . The goods Goldensee and Niendorf am Schaalsee as well as the settlements Butz, Vogtstemmen and Rosenhagen are located in the municipality .

The place is located in the Schaalsee lake district of the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park on the border with the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Here you will find many farms typical of the region.

history

Since the Barber-Lyaschtschenko Agreement of November 13, 1945 to 1989, the eastern border of the municipality formed part of the “Iron Curtain” , the border to the GDR, with the metal mesh fence erected behind it . In May 1990 the volunteer fire brigades built a wooden bridge to Kneese in Mecklenburg, which was replaced by a permanent bridge in 1992.
