At least 108 people, mostly Congolese refugees, were killed. 41 passengers were able to save themselves, including the captain, who was then taken into police custody.

4th Aug 2014 Disaster of the Merlin crane ship in Basel 0 The MS Merlin capsized in Basel on the Rhine during floods. Shortly afterwards, the cabin ship Olympia, which was sailing down the valley, collided during a turning maneuver with the hull of the crane ship lying on its back and then with the cabin ship Laffayette, which was moored ashore . People were not harmed. The MS Merlin had to be scrapped.

Sep 14 2017 (date uncertain) Sink of a presumably overloaded ship on the Niger about 50 A presumably overloaded ship with at least 100 people on board sank in the Niger River in the Bagudo district in the Nigerian state of Kebbi. 47 people were saved.
June 18, 2018 Ferry accident on Lake Toba up to 190 A heavily overloaded wooden ferry sank in bad weather on Lake Toba on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. Due to a Muslim holiday, around four times more people boarded the ferry than permitted, many without a ticket. The number of people reported missing rose to 192. In the first days after the accident, only four bodies were recovered. 18 people could be saved, including the captain.

March 21, 2019 Ferry accident from Mosul at least 103 Hundreds of day trippers wanted to go to the Nouruz Festival in Mosul , Iraq , to an amusement park on an island in the Tigris . Around 200 people are said to have been on the boat, which is approved for 50 people. The river caused unusual floods, so that the ferry capsized in the area of ​​the landing stage and pushed passengers under water.
