- Bishkek / Kyrgyzstan : In the parliamentary elections , the Ata-Shurt party got 8.88 percent, the Social Democratic Party 8.04 percent, the Ar-Namys party 7.74 percent, the Respublika party 7.24 percent and the Ata Meken party to 5.6 percent of the vote.
- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : On the final day of the book fair , the Israeli writer David Grossman is awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade .
- Vienna / Austria : In the state and local council elections , the SPÖ becomes the strongest force with 44.34 percent of the vote, ahead of the FPÖ with 25.77 percent. The ÖVP and the Greens are also represented in the future city senate. In the district council election , the SPÖ becomes the strongest force with 41.27 percent of the vote, ahead of the FPÖ with 23.53 percent. The ÖVP won 15.58 percent and the Greens won 15.18 percent of the vote.

- Manama / Bahrain : In the second round of the parliamentary elections , independents achieved surprising success and became the second strongest group (15) after the Shiite Wifak (18 of the 40 seats). The Islamists of El Asala and the Muslim brotherhood El Menbar shrink to 5 seats. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa instructs his uncle Prince Khalifa to form a government.
- Yamoussoukro / Ivory Coast : In the presidential election reached Laurent Gbagbo 36.6% of the vote, while on Alassane Ouattara 33.8% and Henri Konan Bédié 26.9% of votes are eliminated. Gbagbo and Ouattara will face a runoff election on November 28th.
