The presentation of the Emmy Awards 2005 took place on 18 September 2005 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles instead. This was the 57th award in the primetime category .

The ceremony, which took place three weeks after Hurricane Katrina's devastation, started with the song September by the band Earth Wind & Fire , in a fun version in collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas . They remembered the appeals for donations for the victims of the hurricane. The television station CBS broadcast the event, organized by Ellen DeGeneres was moderated. The broadcaster with the most nominations (36) was HBO and received seven awards. The most successful series were All Love Raymond (10 nominations), Will & Grace (10) and Desperate Housewives (8). With only three awards and only four nominations, the station Comedy Central was the "most accurate".
