Andreas Fellinger (born August 3, 1971 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football referee and assistant referee . He has been on the list of FIFA assistant referees since January 1, 2001 . Fellinger is a member of the Vienna Football Association and is a member of the Vienna Referees College. It is used in the top Austrian soccer league, the Bundesliga and in international games.
Career
Without having played football in a club-like manner beforehand - there have only been two years at SC Nord Wien - Andreas Fellinger passed the referee examination in 1988 at the age of 17. After he was only used in youth games at the beginning, he was also allowed to lead games of fighting teams in the lower class when he reached the age of 18. Due to good performances Fellinger was able to work his way up to the Vienna league . On August 29, 1997 Fellinger was allowed to lead his first game in the ÖFB Cup with the encounter between Prater SV and SR Donaufeld (1: 1, 3: 1 after extra time ) . From the 1998/99 season he was able to qualify for the Regionalliga Ost (third highest performance level), where he made his debut on October 30, 1998.
At the same time, Fellinger came from the 1995/96 season in the National League - first game on August 12, 1995 SV Braunau against VSE St. Pölten (1: 1) on the side of Wolfgang Sowa - and in the Austrian Bundesliga - first game on August 6 October 1995 FC Wacker Innsbruck against Grazer AK (1: 1) with referee Robert Sedlacek - as line judge. From the 1996/97 season , due to a rule change, the line judge was entrusted with additional tasks and expanded competencies, which is why he was now referred to as assistant referee.
On September 6, 1997 Fellinger was able to start his international career as an assistant referee when he ran up in qualifying for the 1997/98 UEFA Cup in the game FK Jablonec nad Nisou against FK Ağdam (5-0) at the side of referee Robert Sedlacek. After FIFA required a separation between referees and assistant referees for international missions, Fellinger had to decide whether he would like to pursue a career as an assistant or as a game director in professional football. Fellinger opted for the assistant referee, which is why he was added to the squad of FIFA assistant referees from 2001. In Austria's two top divisions, he is only used as an assistant and as a fourth official .
As it turned out, Fellinger had made the right decision, as he had numerous missions as an assistant referee with various referees. In addition to qualifying matches for the World Cup and the European Football Championship , the highlights include appearances in the UEFA Champions League , the UEFA Europa League (or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup) and the UEFA Intertoto Cup . The nomination for the U-19 European Football Championship 2005 in Northern Ireland , where it was used in four games, was particularly outstanding . In addition, Fellinger played in seven national championships - Switzerland , Qatar , Russia , Romania , Azerbaijan , Saudi Arabia and Egypt - and in the Egyptian Supercup as assistant referee in addition to the Austrian Bundesliga ; something that no other Austrian assistant apart from himself has yet managed.
In the new election of the Vienna referees committee on February 2, 2011, Andreas Fellinger was elected as deputy chairman by the college. The former Bundesliga referee Johann Liebert , who replaced Alexander Lechner, was chosen as the new chairman with 168: 52 votes . On February 16, 2011 this election was confirmed by the board of the Vienna Football Association.
