Copa del Generalísimo 1971/72

The Copa del Generalísimo 1972/73 was the 69th edition of the Spanish soccer cup competition , which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey .

The competition started on September 20, 1972 and ended with the final on June 29, 1973 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid . The defending champion of the cup competition was Atlético Madrid . Atlético Bilbao won the title by beating CD Castellón 2-0 in the final . This qualified the Basques for the 1973/74 European Cup Winners' Cup .
