The Toyota LiteAce is a pickup truck from Toyota. It was built in different body styles: panel vans , minibuses and flatbed trucks . The equipment variants thus enable different uses, from simple craft delivery vans to comfortable minibuses with space for eight people. From 1971 to 1982 the truck and panel van versions were also produced as the Daihatsu Delta 750 . The current model has been produced as the Daihatsu Derutaban and Daihatsu Delta Wagon since 1996 .
The LiteAce was powered by petrol and diesel engines with a capacity of 1.3 to 2.2 liters . There were motors of the K-series (3K to 5K-C, petrol carburettor engines with a seitlichliegenden camshaft timing chain), motors of the Y-series (petrol engines with 2 to 2.2 liters capacity, carburetor or multipoint - injection , valve timing with roller chain ) and engines of the C series ( swirl chamber diesel engines with distributor injection pump ( Bosch license ), valve control with toothed belt , with and without turbo). Vehicles with engines of Y series corresponded technically the Toyota model F . Aisin-Warner also produced versions with switchable all-wheel drive or with A43 automatic transmission . The manual transmissions had four, later five gears, depending on the seat arrangement in front (two or three seats in the first row) with stick or steering wheel gearshifts. The clutch was operated hydraulically.
Vehicle models for goods transport (heavy-duty) had a rigid axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs as the rear axle . With this construction, a higher payload was possible. Passenger car models had a rigid axle with coil springs , four trailing arms and a Panhard rod as the rear axle .
The dual-circuit brake system was arranged in such a way that the braking effect on both front wheels was ensured even if one brake circuit failed. The brake hoses and pistons on the front axle were routed twice, and a brake circuit also supplied the brakes on the rear axle depending on the load.
The advantages of the Toyota Liteace were the robust and undemanding technology and the very spacious interior despite its compact exterior dimensions. Due to the short wheelbase , the turning circle was very small and the vehicle was easy to handle thanks to the raised seating position.
With the model change in 1996, Liteace disappeared from Toyota's European model range. In other countries Liteace were still sold, but no longer as a front-wheel drive , but with a hood.
