The 3rd Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson Européenne , the official title for that year, took place on March 12, 1958 in the AVRO Studios Hilversum in the Netherlands. In 1958, it became common practice that the previous year's winner country, or rather the radio station behind it, organized the competition.

Attendees

  • participating countries
  • Countries that had participated in a previous ESC but not in 1958
  • Although a new country was added with Sweden , the number of participants remained the same as in the previous year, as the United Kingdom paused due to the poor result (the singer Patricia Bredin only achieved 7th place with All - fourth from last place).

    Voting procedure

The voting procedure from the previous year was used again. In each country there were again 10 jury members who were each allowed to give one vote to a song. The results were transmitted to Hilversum by telephone and publicly.

    * The table is arranged vertically according to the order of appearance, horizontally according to the chronological scoring.
During the live voting, four points were accidentally awarded by Italy to Switzerland (correct) and Sweden (incorrect), this meant that Sweden had 14 points at the end of the voting. The mistake was only corrected after the show.
