Hauterive is a French municipality with 390 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auxerre and the canton Saint-Florentin (until 2015: canton Seignelay ).

geography

Hauterive is about 14 kilometers north-northeast of Auxerre . The Serein river crosses the municipality to the south of the village . Hauterive is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mont-Saint-Sulpice in the north and northeast, Hery in the east and southeast, Seignelay in the south, Beaumont in the west and southwest and Ormoy in the northwest.

history

Until 1947 the municipality was still called Chichy (the village is in the north of the municipality) and was then renamed to its current name ( Ortschaft am Serein).
