Literature in the fog
Literatur im Nebel is a two-day literature festival that was held for the first time in 2006 and took place annually in the second half of October in the town of Heidenreichstein in the northwestern Waldviertel until 2016 . In 2018 it was held on April 13th and 14th.
Foundation, venue
A world-famous author, a rural multi-purpose hall, local celebrity authors and actors and a diverse audience of people interested in literature from a radius of 200 kilometers. That should be the festival's recipe for success.
The festival was initiated by Rudolf Scholten (former Austrian Minister for Education and the Arts), Johannes Pichler (Mayor of Heidenreichstein) and Robert Schindel (Austrian writer).
The aim was to create a high-quality festival in the Waldviertel, a good two hours from the federal capital Vienna , that does not flirt with usefulness such as tourism , but rather an event that deals with literature outside of the usual season .
The meeting in the Margithalle in Heidenreichstein offers space for around 600 visitors per event day and takes place in a familiar atmosphere.
Authors
Since its inception, the main character of the festival has been one who has already created her main work, is at the zenith of creativity. The dramaturge Bettina Hering finds the idea captivating that you focus on one poet at a time.
