  • November 9 : As part of a concert tour through Germany and the Netherlands, Bedřich Smetana performs for the first time the concert etude for piano solo in G sharp minor Na břehu mořském - Vzpomínka ( Am Seegestade - a memory ), which he composed in Prague in September .
  • Franz Lachner premieres his orchestral suite No. 1 in D minor, Op. 113.
  • The concert overture Hamlet op 37 by Niels Wilhelm Gade had its first performance in 1861.
