history

Seedorf is a typical village as it came into being through colonization in the Middle Ages . The Seedorfer parish is mentioned for the first time in 1194 in the tithe register of the then Bishop Isfried von Ratzeburg . From 1889 the community belonged to the administrative district (from 1948 office) Sterley , which in 1971 was combined with the office Gudow to the office Gudow-Sterley . Since 2008 the community has belonged to the Lauenburg Lakes Office .

Worth mentioning in Seedorf is the St. Clemens St. Katharinen Church, which dates back to the 13th century . The original wall paintings are among the earliest contour paintings in northern Germany. Another eye-catcher is the castle in front of the Seedorfer Werder , which was built between 1891 and 1893 and is now privately owned.

At the end of the village in the direction of Hollenbek on the K50 there are several barrows from the older Bronze Age (approx. 1500–1200 BC) on the right .

economy

Seedorf, with its districts of Groß Zecher and Zuckerhut, has four inns, two country inns, various holiday apartments, a blacksmith's shop , two carpentry businesses, an inland fisherman, forestry, several agricultural and livestock farms and a building cleaning company.
