^ Official note from the city of Baden-Baden on the honorary citizenship of Adolf Hitler:
“The list represents historically correct the names of the honorary citizens once appointed. It cannot and should not be concealed that Adolf Hitler - as in many other cities - was elected honorary citizen on April 20, 1933. Historical events cannot be undone. Nevertheless, it is to be noted with shame that one of the greatest criminals against humanity has received the honorary citizenship of the city of Baden-Baden. Hitler's name is not deleted, but is crossed out. "
