The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Cœur de Puisaye (until 2015: canton of Toucy ). The residents call themselves Bellovidériens .

Beauvoir is located in the Puisaye countryside , about 18 kilometers west of Auxerre . Beauvoir is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Égleny in the north, Lindry in the east, Pourrain in the south and south-east, Parly in the south and south-west and Merry-la-Vallée in the west.
