The EFL Championship 2017/18 is the 14th season of the English EFL Championship and at the same time the 26th season of the top division of the English Football League - after the introduction of the Premier League - as only the second highest English league. The season began on August 4, 2017 and ended on May 26, 2018 with the final of the promotion play-offs.

Teams

A total of 24 teams play in the English second division, including 18 from the 2016/17 season . As a climber from the EFL League One 2016/17 came Sheffield United , Bolton Wanderers and Millwall FC to. The three relegated teams from the 2016/17 Premier League completed the field: Hull City , Middlesbrough FC and Sunderland AFC . Are not represented more Newcastle United , Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town as newly promoted to the Premier League 2017/18 and Blackburn Rovers , Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United relegated to the EFL League One 2017/18 .

    Play-off games

    The play-off games are played out after the regular season by means of semi-finals and finals. The two semi-finals will take place on May 11th and 12th, the second leg on May 14th and 15th. The final will take place on May 26, 2018. The winner will be promoted to the 2018/19 Premier League .
