Ouanne is a French municipality with 606 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (2015: Burgundy ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Vincelles (until 2015 canton of Courson-les-Carrières ). The residents call themselves Ouannais .

geography

Ouanne is located in the south of the Puisaye countryside , about 18 kilometers south-southwest of Auxerre . The Ouanne River of the same name rises here . Ouanne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Diges in the north, Coulangeron in the northeast, Merry-Sec in the east, Les Hauts de Forterre in the south, Sementron in the southwest, Levis in the west and Leugny in the northwest.
