The Rogers Cup 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 21 to 27, 2008 in Toronto . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on hard courts. This season it was the sixth of nine tournaments in the ATP Masters Series . The women's Rogers Cup also took place parallel to the tournament . No further ATP tournaments were held in the same week. The Cincinnati Masters followed suit the following week .
Novak Đoković was the defending champion in the singles, who failed in the quarterfinals at the later semi-finalist Andy Murray in two sets. In the final, the second seeding list Rafael Nadal won in two sets 6: 3, 6: 2 against the unset German surprise finalist Nicolas Kiefer . Nadal won his seventh title in 2008 (including Wimbledon and the French Open ).
