The Rogers Cup 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 21 to 27, 2008 in Toronto . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on hard courts. This season it was the sixth of nine tournaments in the ATP Masters Series . The women's Rogers Cup also took place parallel to the tournament . No further ATP tournaments were held in the same week. The Cincinnati Masters followed suit the following week .

Novak Đoković was the defending champion in the singles, who failed in the quarterfinals at the later semi-finalist Andy Murray in two sets. In the final, the second seeding list Rafael Nadal won in two sets 6: 3, 6: 2 against the unset German surprise finalist Nicolas Kiefer . Nadal won his seventh title in 2008 (including Wimbledon and the French Open ). The first seeding list, Roger Federer , surprisingly failed in his first match against Gilles Simon , which advanced to the semifinals. Mahesh Bhupathi and Pavel Vízner were successful in doubles the previous year. They competed with other partners this year and were eliminated in the second round or quarter-finals. In the final, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić prevailed against Bob and Mike Bryan with 6: 2, 4: 6, [10: 6].

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles and doubles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was $ 2,365,000; total financial liabilities were $ 2,615,000.

The qualification took place from July 19-20, 2008. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
