Doina Ciucanu-Robu (born July 22, 1967 in Piatra Neamț ) is a former Romanian rower who won two Olympic medals.

The 1.95 m tall rower started as Doina Ciucanu at the 1988 Olympic Games . At the 1990 Olympic Games , she appeared as Doina Robu. Already at the rowing world championships in 1990 she is listed as Doina Robu.

Doina Ciucanu's sporting career began at the Junior World Championships in 1984 when she rowed the bronze medal with the double scull , and in 1985 she won the title with the double scull . At the World Championships in 1986 won Anisoara Bălan , Doina Ciucanu, Anisoara Sorohan and maricica ţăran in quadruple sculls silver medal behind the boat from the GDR. The following year, Bălan, Veronica Cochela , Ciocanu and Sorohan took fourth place at the 1987 World Championships .

At the Olympic Games in 1988 Balan, Ciucanu, Cogelea and Anișoara Minea (-Sorohan) rowed in the Romanian quadruple scull, which finished second behind the Bulgarians and in front of the Soviet crew. The Romanians won their reunion ahead of the Belgians, the Soviet boat won the other reunion. In the finals, Elisabeta Lipă rowed for Doina Ciucanu, the Romanians took third place behind the boats from the GDR and the Soviet Union. Doina Ciucanu also received the bronze medal for her work in the pre-run and the hope run.

In 1990 Doina Robu returned to the Romanian team. At the World Championships in Tasmania , she won together with Doina Bălan , Iulia Bobeică and Marioara Traşcă the competition in the four without a helmsman in front of the West German four. The four rowers also belonged to the Romanian eighth, who won ahead of the US boat and the boat from the no longer existing GDR. At the 1991 World Championships in Vienna , Robu finished sixth with the Romanian four-man without a helmsman, while the Romanian eighth won bronze behind the boats from Canada and the Soviet Union.

At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 , Robu finished seventh together with Doina Snep (-Bălan) in the two without a helmsman . With the eighth, the two won the silver medal behind the Canadians. At the 1993 World Championships , Robu finished fifth with the Romanian four-man without a helmsman, and with the Romanian eighth she rowed the gold medal in front of the US boat.

At the 1996 Olympic Games , Robu started again with the quadruple after a two-year break. The Romanians took tenth and last place.

Doina Robu's husband Valentin Robu also rowed for Romania at the Olympic Games.
