The European route 852 leads from Tirana ( Albania ) via Elbasan (Albania) and Struga ( North Macedonia ) to Ohrid (North Macedonia). From Elbasan to Struga the E 852 is part of the Pan-European Traffic Corridor VIII and from Elbasan to Ohrid the route largely corresponds to the ancient Via Egnatia .
course
The E 852 begins in the center of Tirana at Skanderbeg-Platz , crosses the Boulevards Jeanne d'Arc and Bajram Curri and leads out of the city via the Elbasaner Straße leading to the south as SH 3 . It then leads over the Krraba Pass into the Elbasan Qark and the district of the same name . The first town after the pass is Bradashesh , where it turns east-northeast and after a few kilometers reaches Elbasan.
A new bypass road bypasses the center of the city to the south. The E 852 continues as SH 3 through the Shkumbin valley in an east-northeast direction to Librazhd . There it turns to the southeast, in order to lead again at Qukës in an easterly direction to Përrenjas . A few kilometers behind Përrenjas the ascent to the Qafë Thana pass begins . At the top of the pass, the SH 9 branches off , the course of which the E 852 now follows east to the north Macedonian border three kilometers away . Here the E 852 now leads as M4 to the town of Struga at the northern end of Lake Ohrid . Shortly afterwards, in Podmolje , the M5 branches off and the E 851 follows this together with the E 65 in a south-easterly direction to Ohrid on the north-east side of the lake, where the E 852 finally ends.
