The 2005/06 Süper Lig was the 48th season of the top Turkish league in men's football . It started on August 5, 2005 with the game Gençlerbirliği Ankara against Fenerbahçe Istanbul and ended on May 14, 2006 with the 34th matchday. From December 19, 2005 to January 19, 2006 the season was interrupted by the winter break.
Turkish champion was Galatasaray Istanbul . Malatyaspor , Samsunspor and Diyarbakırspor had to relegate .
Attendees
For the 2005/06 Süper Lig, the 15 clubs remaining from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . The climbers were the first to third place in the 2nd division Sivasspor , Vestel Manisaspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor . For all three newcomers it was the first first division participation in their club history.
