Stedesand ( Frisian : Stääsönj) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein. Störtewerkerkoog (nf. Störtewärkskuuch , Danish. Størteværkkog ) and Wester Schnatebüll (nf. Weester Snootebel , Danish. Vester Snattebøl ) are in the municipality, which has existed in its current form since 1974.

Geography and traffic

Stedesand is located about five kilometers southeast of Niebüll on federal highway 5 and the railway line from Niebüll in the direction of Husum . The station was closed on May 31, 1987.

history

On February 1, 1974, the former communities of Störtewerkoog and Wester Schnatebüll were incorporated.

politics

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, the constituency AWG has had five seats since the 2013 local elections, while the constituencies AWS and KWS each have three seats.

economy

The community is predominantly agricultural.

Attractions

The Stedesander Church was probably built in the 16th century. Today's altarpiece is by Carl Ludwig Jessen . The font made from Gotland limestone resembles that of the Emmelsbüller church.
