New Small Family

New Small Family is a project by Volkswagen AG , which aims to develop vehicles for the brands Škoda , Seat , Volkswagen and possibly also Audi . These are small cars which, with various types of drive and body designs, are intended to greatly expand their sales targets in order to set Toyota as the largest automobile manufacturer in the world from first place. The project was presented in 2007 at the IAA and the Tokyo Motor Show . The New Small Family kit is intended to produce uniform vehicle parts that are cheaper in bulk. The three-door models appeared in their respective home countries in December 2011: the VW up! in Germany , the Škoda Citigo in the Czech Republic and the Seat Mii in Spain . In the rest of Europe, the three-door models came on the market in April 2012. The five-door models came onto the market in all European countries in May 2012.

Production sites

All vehicles are produced by Volkswagen Slovakia ( Slovakia ) (formerly Škoda-Werk BAZ). Volkswagen AG invested 308 million euros in preparing the plant for the vehicle project . In order to achieve the sales targets, the group is planning to expand existing plants in Kaluga ( Russia ) and Pune ( India ). Gearboxes are manufactured in the Škoda main plant in Mladá Boleslav . Škoda Auto invested 1.5 billion Czech crowns (around 60 million euros) to expand the plant , creating 270 additional jobs.

Models

The vehicles are based on the same floor pan and only differ in design . Differences in dimensions result from differently dimensioned aprons . So far, the following basic models have been produced:
