Sames ( Basque Samatze ) is a French municipality with 699 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the canton of Nive-Adour (until 2015: canton of Bidache ). The inhabitants are called Samòts or Samaztar .

geography

Sames is about 25 kilometers east of Bayonne . At the northern edge of the municipality, the Gaves Réunis flows into the Adour . Sames is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Port-de-Lanne in the north, Ortheville in the north-east, Hastingues in the south and east, Guiche in the west and Sainte-Marie-de-Gosse in the west and north-west.

The A64 autoroute runs through the municipality .
