About this picture

Tarp ( formerly also Tarup in Danish ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The Tarp sub-center is the administrative headquarters of the Oeversee Office .

geography

The municipality of Tarp is located south of Flensburg on the Treene and Ochsenweg on the Schleswig Geest . Keelbek ( Kjeldbæk or Kilbæk ), Kielswang ( Kildevang ) and Tornschau ( Tornskov ) are in the municipality.

history

Tarp was first mentioned as tadorpp in the 13th century . Until the German-Danish War , the place Tarp belonged administratively to the parish Oeversee (Danish. Oversø Sogn ) within the Uggelharde . In church terms, Tarp remained part of the ev-luth until 1967. Oeversee community. The places Tornschau and Keelbek belonged to the parish Eggebek ( Eggebæk Sogn ).

In the 18th century under the influence of the Danish King Christian VI. numerous wall hedges (called "kink" in Schleswig-Holstein) on the Geest and in the hill country of the duchies in order to achieve a clear demarcation against the erosion of the fields. These knicks still shape the municipality of Tarp today.

In 1956 the Marinefliegergeschwader 2 was stationed in the Friedrich Wilhelm Lübke barracks in Tarp. In 2005 it was dissolved and its tasks were partially taken over by the squadron in Jagel .

In 1970 the neighboring town of Keelbek was incorporated.

Danish Church Tarp ( Tarp danske kirke )

In 1985 the Danish church ( Tarp danske kirke ), located on the northeastern edge between the cemetery and Treene, was inaugurated.

In the early 1970s, investors built a 1,800 m² factory hall for the production of Styrofoam in the industrial park, which was converted into a large-capacity disco Fantasy (known as Fanta by locals ) in 1987 . Up to 800 visitors regularly came to concerts, techno , singles , rock and Schlager parties in Germany's northernmost large-capacity disco, some of them even from Flensburg and neighboring countries. After the operators reopened the disco in 2010 after being closed for two years, the building was finally up for sale in 2014 for reasons of fire protection ; It is planned to be used as a warehouse.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on December 27, 1954.

Blazon : "In blue on a golden wavy bar a looking golden owl in side view."

The wavy bar in the coat of arms shows the location of the municipality of Tarp with the Keelbek district incorporated in 1970 on or near the Treene, thus emphasizing the special importance of the river for the town. As a tributary of the Eider, the Treene used to be navigable and was already a frequently used waterway in the Middle Ages. In addition, it has always been considered a productive fishing water with considerable economic benefits. However, regardless of these geographic advantages, Tarp was essentially a farming village. The other figure of the Tarper coat of arms, the owl, is the traditional symbol of the Uggelharde. The Danish word "Ugle" means "owl". As a symbol, the image of the owl determined the seal of Uggelharde as the administrative body responsible for Tarp until 1867. The colors blue and gold are the colors of the Schleswig region.

The coat of arms was designed by the Brunsbüttel heraldist Willy "Horsa" Lippert .

flag

The flag was approved on February 1, 1967.

In the middle of a yellow field, each bordered by a narrow blue stripe at the top and bottom, the flag shows the coat of arms of the municipality shifted slightly towards the pole.

religion

In Tarp there are parishes of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany ( Reconciliation Church ), the Catholic Church ( St. Martin ) and the Protestant Danish Church in South Schleswig ( Tarp Danske Kirke ).
